Thanks for stopping by Tech Fit - I have stopped developing content for this site and will focus my energy on Michael Wood, CSCS and the Sun Also Rises. The first site will continue to report on technology in the fitness industry and even has an "Apps" tab. The second site is a site dedicated to Author Ernest Hemingway. Feel free to drop by periodically and check out the content. Thank you!

Future iPhones Could Include HR
The iPhone Medical App site reports that future iPhones could have the technology that would enable them to have heart rate. I'm thinking about all the possible applications that subscribers could use this for including of course monitoring their individual workouts as well as how it could be used in a cardiac rehab setting.

Technology May Help You Reach Your Fitness Goals
Maybe your beginning to think you may need a little help when it comes to reaching your health and fitness goals for the new year. Many people find both enjoyment and more importantly, motivation through using various forms of technology when exercising. Whether it's downloading fitness apps on your iPhone, tracking your fitness data via your iPad, working out on the Koko Smartrainer or using your Nike+, the bottom line for most is that it helps create stickiness with technology and exercise.
The Consumer Electronic Association, in their study, Getting Fit With Consumer Electronics, found 37% of the people surveyed said they will purchase a fitness electronics product in the next 12 months. "According to the study, 54% of consumers cite lack of motivation as the main reason not to exercise. The study also found 76% exercise alone without the guidance of exercise professionals, and 74% of consumers exercise at home. Fitness technologies can help these consumers assess their fitness level; set realistic, achievable goals; track the amount of physical activity they get each day; monitor their calorie intake; track progress on fitness goals; and ultimately help make the journey more fun and engaging." Sounds like a few good reasons why you may want to get on board this fitness technology train, especially if your having trouble getting or staying motivated to exercise consistently.

Tech Fit Best Fitness App: Fitaide
I have looked at and tried many new fitness apps over the course of the past year. Though I liked many of them, the Fitaide from Positech, became a personal favorite and my choice for the Tech Fit Best Fitness App Award for 2010. The Fitaide uses 3D motion sensor capabilities from smart phones like the iPhone and in turn collects some great exercise data. The app has made many of the top 5 health and fitness app lists for 2010. Here is a listing of what the Fitaide is able to collect on user. This You Tube video gives a brief explanation from CEO Siva Raj whom I have had the pleasure of speaking with.
